We’re a New Zealand owned and operated online listing platform that helps create working connections between freelancers and small business owners.
Created by small business owners, Ryan and Kellie Dawson (Kellie is also a freelancer herself), My List Assist was born out of a realisation that there really wasn’t an ideal platform available online to help the small guys and gals (like us) to connect in a cost effective and simple way.
So many small business owners need some assistance, but don’t necessarily need to hire someone on a regular basis. They just need someone to help either one off our only for a few hours a week. And sometimes it can be hard knowing where to find the right assistance.
For small business owners we wanted you to to be able to quickly and easily connect online with a range of people who provide just the services you need on a casual basis. Our review system lets you provide feedback and also helps give you the confidence that the freelancer you are talking to knows their stuff.
Many freelancers are also looking online for work, but a lot of the current solutions are just not all that freelancer friendly, requiring you to spend a lot of money to get work. That’s not cool! For freelancers, we wanted to provide you with a range of options to list your services, starting with a basic free package that enables you to be found online with absolutely no cost to you. You don’t even need to have your own website!
Ultimately, our goal is to bring everyone together in one place, a bit like a virtual networking event! We offer you the platform to connect, you bring the cuppa, and the search puts you together with people who can help you!

My List Assist was designed especially with freelancers and small business owners in mind. Having worked for many years as a freelancer Kellie understands that having a cost effective way to source both work and help is really important.
Soon after Kellie started working regularly as a freelancer people started to approach her asking me how she found work that she could do from home. She soon discovered that a lot of freelancers had trouble sourcing regular work, and when they listed their skills on some of the popular websites they found that it was costing them a fortune to get work either because they had to pay expensive listing fees, or because the listing site too a chunk of their pay in commission. This got us thinking about some of the ways that we could help other freelancers to get started and find clients.
Then some small business owner friends started asked us to help them find other freelancers to assist them in their businesses. BINGO! Get small business owners and freelancers together! The idea for My List Assist was born!
However, it really wasn’t until Covid hit in early 2020 that we realised how important it was going to be to take My List Assist from just an idea, to something that could help freelancers to find work and small business owners to find help every single day.
With Covid causing lots of trouble in the job market, we knew that there would be a lot of people needing more work and what better way to start earning online fast than by using the skills you already have!
